The OCCPO scam
I saw an ad on Instagram claiming to help people invest and a quick ad library search revealed 3 Facebook pages of the same scammer running a total of 15 ads targeting Europe. Both pages have the same website listed and the same post. The website ygomi. org/0vDkF doesn’t work anymore so they just waste money on ads because people can’t access the website and get scammed. Their ads target people 30-65+ years old to make sure they have the money to “invest”.
This is a classic WhatsApp scam as one of their ads states, but they don’t have a WhatsApp link or a website that’s working, all their ad links lead to Facebook’s homepage which is the user’s newsfeed. 3 Facebook pages advertising nothing 🤣
A few hours later the ads work, using a Facebook form.
Another ad appeared on my Facebook feed and they have an identical WhatsApp group name with a different serial number. They deleted me shortly after I joined, maybe they realized I was the same person joining 2 of their scam groups. The admins’ phone numbers are different but the profile pictures are the same.
It looks like I was the first one to join the group and this means the group has 130 fake members.
Cai26 de is another of their Facebook pages that runs a total of 44 ads of the same investment scam telling people to join a WhatsApp group.
The only active ad says the beneficiary is Daniel A Smith which could be a fake name.
This ad was seen by over 30,000 people across Europe in just a few hours since it was launched.
For one of the pages, I found an email address and that language was Chinese. “英语” means English in Chinese.
And this page manages another WhatsApp group OCCPO-2410 Insider Stock and Diversified Investment Expert Guidance and Communication created on November 2023. A few seconds later, after they accepted me in the group, they removed me.
Seeing the names of the groups OCCPO-2402, OCCPO-2409, OCCPO-2410 and OCCPO-2499 makes me wonder if they really have 2,500 WhatsApp groups scamming people. I don’t think they chose these numbers randomly.
The group will start this week (April 25). I think they are waiting to see how many people will join.
Forward to the future and it’s May 5 and the group still exists even though I reported it. As always with these Whatsapp scams there is a trader or professor and an assistant. Here Martin Phillips is the trader and Victoria Anderson is the assistant.
And this is how the week ends. Almost all these Chinese scammers claim to be traders from the UK.
In this case, they don’t have a website where people will invest their money. They have an app that had fake reviews. The app is called OCCPO and it’s available on Google Play.
The link to the app from Google Play makes reference to being a literature app, not a trading app: https://play.google. com/store/apps/details?id=english.lucy.englishliteraturepdfnotes
Even the description of the app doesn’t mention anything about it being a trading or investment app. They say it’s just an app where you can see the stock market.
They say the app was released on Feb 13, 2022 and if this is true, this app spent already more than enough time on Google Play scamming people.
The developer of this app Slide Info created a bunch of other apps and none of them have reviews anymore. Maybe Google detected the fake accounts and deleted them all and that’s why we don’t see reviews anymore.
